Biography
Professor Dr. Sudhindra Baliga
Professor Dr. Sudhindra Baliga is the former Dean at Sharad Pawar Dental College and Hospital. He graduated from A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore in 1999 and went on to complete his Masters in Pedodontics from Yenepoya Dental College; Mangalore in 2002. He began his career in Pedodontics in prestigious Manipal College of dental sciences, Manipal. He has completed his PhD in the field of Pedodontics, the focus of his research being on sickle cell anaemia in tribal children. He is a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He has completed his fellowship in Dental Education. To add to his accolades, he also held the office of the Journal of Indian Society of Pedodontics, a pubmed indexed journal, as the Associate Editor from 2012-2016 and Editor-In Chief from 2017-2021. To date, he has published over 100 peer reviewed scientific papers and research abstracts in the scientific dental literature. He has delivered guest lectures in several national and international conferences and contributed as an author in speciality text books. His clinical interests are Phytodentistry and minimal intervention dentistry.
Professor Dr. Vidya Baliga
Professor Dr. Vidya Baliga has completed her BDS and MDS from A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. She began her career at K.D Dental College & Hospital, Mathura. She has completed her Ph.D in the field of Periodontics, the focus of her research being evaluation of GCF levels of Caspase enzymes in periodontitis. She has received her Diploma in LASER and implantology from the university of Genova, Italy. To add on, she has done her M.Phil in Health professions education. She served as the member secretary of ethics committee, and pioneered the accreditation of the ethics committee for clinical trials by the national accreditation board for hospitals. She is NABH trained for conducting ICH-GCP workshops, and conducted several workshops for aspiring investigators of clinical trials. She was an active member of the team to receive accreditation of the dental hospital by NABH, the fourth dental hospital to receive such accreditation in the country and having 10 copyrights of the manuals made for the process of accreditation. To date, she has over 50 peer reviewed scientific papers and research abstracts in the scientific dental literature. She has delivered guest lectures in several national and international conferences. Her clinical interests are Platelet concentrates in periodontal regeneration,3 D bioplotted scaffolds and dental implants.
